How to preserve the laminating adhesive properly?

Laminating adhesives contain volatile materials, and proper storage is essential.  It will help ensure that the product performs within its specified shelf life (especially crucial when containers are opened and closed multiple times), and it guarantees the safety of the processing during storage and application phases.

It is important to know that upon receiving the adhesive, reading and familiarizing yourself with the Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) and container labels will allow for more efficient handling and storage.

Storage:

I. Before Unsealing:

Keep the container tightly closed and in a cool, well-ventilated place away from open fire, sparks, flames, or other sources of ignition.

II. Recommended Storage Method If adhesive remains unused after opening:

1. Solvent based adhesive:

  • Once the barrel cover is open, the residual should be used as soon as possible.
  • The residual: the residual can be diluted in two times of volume of the solvent and then sealed which can be used as dilutes in the prepared solution the next day. If there are some precipitates, this residual should be abandoned.

2. Solvent less adhesive:

  • Once the barrel cover is open, the residual should be used as soon as possible.
  • In high-humidity environments, it’s advisable to fill the A part (hardener) adhesive container and seal it before leaving work each day.
  • During production, minimize opening the adhesive container whenever possible.
  • Alternatively, you can use inert gases to isolate the adhesive from the air.

Note: If the storage methods mentioned above do not align with the guidance provided in your product’s Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) or other relevant instructions, always follow the guidance specified in those documents.

For convenience, we have summarized the table and flowchart as follows:

Solvent-based adhesive

Solvent free adhesive

Before Unsealing

Keep the container tightly closed and in a cool, well-ventilated placeaway fom open fire, sparks, flames or other sources of ignition.

After Opening

Once the barrel cover is open, the residual should be used as soon as possible

The residual can be diluted in two times of volume

of the solvent and then

sealed,  which can be used as dilutes in the prepared

solution the next day

Abandon when there is some precipitate

To avoid humidity,

we advise filling A

part (hardener)

adhesive container  completely and

seal it before

leaving work each

day.

During production, minimize opening

the adhesive

container whenever possible

Alternatively, you can use inert gases to isolate the adhesive from the air.

Note: If the storage methods mentioned above do not align with the guidance provided in your product’s Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) or other relevant instructions, always follow the guidance specified in those documents.
